Q. biotech companies
First, have you contacted Career Services, Whitecar Hall, suite 2400? The people in this office may maintain a list. The library does not have a database that is purely for company names and addresses.
We do have two business databases, and I would like to suggest a search strategy for using each. They will not alwasy give you the street address, but they will tell you the town and state and, more importantly, what the company does and sometimes how it is doing financially.
First search: From the library's Web page, under Quick links, click Proquest. At the next screen click the ADVANCED tab above the search box. Below the box where you type your search there is a drop down menu, select "Business-ABI/Inform Complete."
In the first box of the search form type ' 541711 OR 325412' and in the drop down menu after the box select 'NAICS code'. In the box below type 'pennsylvania OR new jersey OR delaware OR maryland' and in the drop down menu after the box select 'Location'. Click 'Search'.
Look through the articles, some are more helpful than others.
From Library's Web Page, under Quick links, click Databases A-Z. Select Business Source Premier and then Enhanced Business Interface. Above the search box, click the Advanced Search tab.
In the first box type ' 541711 OR 325412' and in the drop down menu after the box select 'NAICS Code or Description'. In the box below type 'pennsylvania OR new jersey OR delaware OR maryland' and in the drop down menu after the box select 'Geographic terms'.
There are fewer results in Business Source Premier, so perhaps you want to do this search first.
Finally, if you do decide to use Google, do an 'Advance Google search.
In the 'all these words box, type the two words biotechnology company
In 'one or more of these words' box type 'pennsylvania OR new jersey' in the first box, delaware in the second, maryland in the third.
Most of the results will be from companies that are employment agencies.
