Q. primary, secondary, and teriary scientific literature?
What resource(s) does USP use to define primary, secondary, and teriary scientific literature? Both drug information and medical writing.
The definitions of primary, secondary and tertiary scientific literature vary depending on your discipline. Generally speaking though, most disciplines would agree that primary literature is peer reviewed research, while secondary literature will include review articles in the scientific literature and articles of popular literature. These secondary sources often describe, discuss, or summarize primary sources. Tertiary literature, however, is the type which can vary depending on your field of study.
