I can login to other resources like Blackboard and WebAdvisor, but I cannot login to library e-resources.
To access our e-resouces from off-campus, your browser must be configured to accept "cookies". The scenario you describe often means that your browser is not accepting cookies. (There could be another explanation, but the cookie issue is likely the answer.) If you know how to enable cookies, do that and reboot your computer, then try accessing our e-resources again.
Here are more detailed instructions:
1. Check to see if any Windows updates need to be applied. If you use Internet Explorer (IE), be sure to apply any IE updates. If any Windows/IE updates are waiting, apply them and reboot your computer.
a. Try accessing databases after the reboot completes. If you now have access, you don’t need to proceed further in these steps.
(If these steps don’t solve the problem, then go to step 2.)
2. Download a "clean, new browser", for example, any browser you have not used before on your computer. Some free browsers you can try are: Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari. Download and install the new browser and then try accessing databases.
The theory here is that a new browser will be downloaded to your computer fully up to date, with cookies set to be accepted, and with no unusual setting changes or corruptions. It should allow you to login to library resources "right out of the box”.
If you are able to access our e-resources with a clean browser, but you'd like to continue using your original browser for research, then you must troubleshoot your browser. Specifically, make sure the browser is set to accept cookies. For specific instructions on how to do this in your browser, try googling "enable cookies and [your browser's name]". If you can't figure it out, let us know.
